Happenings around the halls of AREA O2

by Victor Obenauf

It has been a fun time here at
AREA O2. We recently finished a broadcast commercial for the Vegas market for Sleep Apnea TMJ of Nevada. The spot was shot for JB Creative (a great small agency.) We shot the spot on a small stage with great lighting, HD and the AREA O2 JIBoTRON 5000. It looks very nice!

RELEVANCY IN MARKETING

AREA O2 Ramps Up For Ski Resort Marketers, Thumbs Nose at Onion Growers

by Victor Obenauf

Attracting new and younger customers and stealing from competitors continues to be the name of the game for the ski industry. The key to reaching those people: relevancy. This is defined as giving customers the right message at the right time in the right place. And even going as far as to let the customer decide how that approach should be.

This strategy continues to point to the web. Web video, blogging, and permission based emails continue to become increasingly popular and effective. At AREAO2 we are positioned to provide a solution on these fronts.

When it comes to working with the ski industry, we are the first to admit it: video production in the winter kicks serious butt. Something about having an HD camera, a lanyard, and a pair of skis is much better than filming a keynote address for the Onion Growers Association. The action is great, it looks good on tape and the people tend to smell better.

Here’s what we’ve been up to: Video production of fast runs on good powder. Posting it to the web. Emailing videos with a newsletter and special offer. Putting the customer first with lots of value and relevancy.  If you are a tourism industry business or advertising agency that handles a tourism account, we want to earn your business.

Right now AREA O2 is positioning itself as the premiere Northwest ski industry partner. We have really ramped up the viral part with the integration of a graphic and web department in-house. We can go out and film a series of compelling videos and get them spreading through the skier community immediately. It’s really exciting to send out an email and watch the meter go up as people open those emails or see it on the web.

Skier destinations are a very intimate and personal choice. Give the tourism customer a way to interact, comment on, and personalize their marketing experience. Give them something original, memorable and relevant. And by the way, do it now before one of your competitors does it.
