AIR FORCE 1 was created by designer Bruce Kilgore and first introduced in 1982. It is also the first basketball shoe equipped air bag in NIKE history. Unlike the colorway revealed earlier, this pair is not quite the avid Yankees fan. Instead, the palette seems to draw more from the city, its grey leathers an ostensible mimicry of the streets, skyscrapers, and the like. The midsoles, laces, and “NYC” branding, then, contrast in a bright white, appearing far cleaner than the boroughs it draws inspiration from. Finally, in place of an overlaid check, the side is set with a polished, slightly see-through jewel Swoosh.
